Domestic violence in London

In 2002, the Metropolitan Police found that of the 175 domestic sexual assaults recorded in London between January and March 2001, only four perpetrators received a sentence, the maximum of which was 14 months.

Recent research completed by The London Borough of Newham’s Chief Executive Department showed that with the exception of the Community Safety Unit (The Police) NAADV received more referrals than any other agency providing services to people effected by domestic violence in Newham. Our offices are based in Beckton, in the south of the borough, which the report also showed to be a hot spot area for reports of domestic violence.

NAADV caters for a non-ethnic specific group, and provides services to all sections of the community, our current client group is representative of the borough as a whole and therefore 57% of our clients are from the black and ethnic minority population.
